Generally, orders for pickups in standard colors leave our factory within three days of order submission (and often faster than that). Items in non-standard colors or configurations may take up to five business days to leave our factory depending on production demand. This is simply a cosmetic choice which does not affect performance, and it doesn't actually refer to specific models. However, the Breed™ and Evolution^® models are built with black base plates as a standard feature.

For most pickup models, you can use standard pickups in a left-handed guitar or bass. For the models where it makes a difference, you can get a special left-handed version at no extra charge. Those models are True Velvet™, True Velvet Bridge™, Red Velvet™, HS-4™, all Virtual Vintage® and Area Strat replacement models, Injector™ neck and bridge, Area T™ neck model.

The List Price for DiMarzio® full-size humbuckers applies to black, cream and black/cream only. All other colors and color combinations on full-size humbuckers have a $10 higher List Price. Dealer prices may vary.

Full-sized humbuckers with visible coils have a permanent, molded-in color that can not be changed. Most pickups for Strat and Tele replacement have replaceable covers that come in a variety of colors available here. Most other models have non-replaceable covers.

All magnetic pickups produce a clean signal with no distortion. Distortion is produced either in the amplifier or in effects pedals or rack effects. When a pickup is said to produce distortion, it indicates a pickup with high output, which more easily drives amplifiers into distortion. An amplifier with a totally clean channel or clean setting may not distort at all, even with a high output pickup.

All of our true single-coil pickups are available with reversed polarity and connections at no additional charge.
